Region Officer Handbook
Region Representative
The region representative is a member of the IFACSTA board.
I. Responsibilities
A. Use the Illinois Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers Association Bylaws
B. Serve as leader of the region
C. Plan and carry out two region meetings for the membership
D. Hold meetings with region officers to plan and coordinate responsibilities of their office
E. Write region news articles for the three IFACSTA newsletters
F. Form committees for projects
G. Coordinate an officer slate committee
H. Keeps a set of records used in the service of the office: agendas, plans, etc.
I. Evaluate meetings and compile a record
J. Apply for PDU and Certification units from the appropriate sources for region IFACSTA events
K. Attend annual convention and hold region business meeting
L. Send list of region officers to IFACSTA president-elect before December 1
M. Provide each region officer with a copy of officer responsibilities
N. Maintain region handbook for future region representatives
O. Maintain official documentation for certification units
P. Support the efforts of IFACSTA, IACTE, ACTE, and NATFACS

Region Vice Chairperson
I. Responsibilities
A. Assist the region representative
B. Assist in planning the region meetings
C. Serve as public relations chairperson for the region
i. Write articles to local newspaper
ii. Write sample news release form for region attendees
iii. Collect publicity to share with legislators
iv. Coordinate efforts to support the IFACSTA memorial scholarship projects
D. Attend region meetings and the IFACSTA conference
E. Mentor new members in IFACSTA
F. Support the efforts of IFACSTA, IACTE, ACTE, and NATFACS

Region Secretary –
Treasurer
I.
Responsibilities
A.
Attend the region meetings
and IFACSTA conference
B.
Write minutes of the
business meeting at conference and both region meetings
C.
Send letters, which the
region representative request, including letters of appreciation to speakers and
all those who have helped with the region meetings
D.
Read necessary
correspondence to the group and file letters for future
reference
E.
Collect and deposit any
region monies
F.
Pay all bills and keep an
up-to-date financial record for the region
G.
With the help of the region
representative, compile a directory of Family and Consumer Sciences teacher and
IFACSTA members. Duplicate and
have available for IFACSTA members.
Revise the directory on a regular basis

Make recommendations to
region representative, officers and members concerning legislative matters which
affect Career and Technical Education and Family and Consumer
Sciences.
E.
Attend all region meetings
and submit a report concerning legislative matters
F.
Attend IFACSTA conference
and the join sponsored IFACSTA and FCCLA Legislative Awareness
Day
G.
Testify or delegate to other
region members to testify before legislative and other governmental leaders when
requested by IFACSTA legislative chairperson
H.
Provide membership with the
current legislator’s names, addresses, and phone numbers
